Blue and Gold

The cub scout Blue and Gold banquet is over! I think it was a success. The boys were happy. And there was lots of yummy, delish food and lots left over so nobody went away hungry. I'm glad it's over and now get to move to the next big project-Grandparent's Day at the school.

Sadness can be replaced...

by an incredible feeling of love and comfort. I have a little story to tell. We are in the middle of preparing for our Blue and Gold Banquet for Cubs. I had gotten online at Costco and ordered pictures and then forgot about them even when my other den mom was going to Costco. Now here it is 2 days before the party and I'm missing about 100 pictures that are being used in the centerpieces. I sent out the plea for help. I was sinking!! There was no way I could make a trip to Costco, make 100 ribbon jellos, decorate for a 100 year old birthday party, attend VB practice(which I'm not attending) and do all the other things that moms have to do. And as I saw myself going down, you (several of you) heard my cries for help and threw me a lifeline. I sent an email to the 2 RS in our area and I was saved by so many of you. My VTee even offered her husband to pick up pictures for me!! Thank you so much for your true devotion to our Savior. Although this may seem like a small thing, it was a huge thing to me! You have truly saved me in my hour of desperation. Thank you so much. I have been taught by you good women. Going a little out of your way and really helping someone is a good thing. You saved me. Thank you.

BB all over (almost)

Basketball season is over for Summer and almost over for Lexi, so sad (I love BB). They both had a fun, learning year. I think they both want to play next year. Summer does anyway. Lexi isn't sure yet. Thanks to all the coaches who put so much time into taking care and teaching. Without you, we couldn't play!!

I'm still here...

and really busy. But aren't we all. I really wanted to get my Christmas letter out by V-day, but I don't think that is happening either. I've been busy with ball games, cub scouts, vinyl, crafting, being my baby's BFF and my husband's driver to and from Dr. appointments.

Just when you think you will be ok

something happens to remind you of your loss. As many of you know, my brother is having a walkway/bridge named after him in Kirkland, WA. It has been interesting and hard process that I really haven't been invovled in at all. I just saw what it is going to say on the plague and then the tears come again. I guess in ways I'm glad the tears don't stop coming because that means the bond continues and love is stronger than death. But it's hard to feel sad and it hurts. Anyway, Lexi was pretty sad too as they lost their game last night to a tough Othello Team. It wasn't even close. She didn't score any points but had several go in and out of the basket. I think the final score was 30-8. She has been emotional all am. Summer's team won 26-24. It would have been a tie except a girl on the other team accidently scored a basket in our bucket so basically we won by her points, SAD!! But everyone left happy!! Thank goodness for that because not too many people left O-town happy!!

WHOOAAA!! What just happened!!

Lexi had a game tonight against Royal. She struggled last week in her last two game, in fact, losing against Finley (but she was high point with a womping 4 point-they had 11 and lost 17-11) but she also fouled out. But tonight, it was a whole new ball player. She did foul-smart fouls though-or smarter fouls, stopping girls from having a clean shot at the basket. But she scored 15 points including 3 freethrows!! I couldn't believe it!! She was high point tonight too and her best friend, Shayla, got to play with her-Shay usually plays on the 8th grade team. Shay made 10 points. Oh yeh, sad score 37-1. I was so glad they made 1 point!! At least!! Lexi's coach is an LDS guy from Connell and he asked her if she read her scriptures this morning because she did so good. He had to bench her to keep her from scoring more points!! It was a fun night for the team!!

Wrapping things up...

Ok, I have pictures of the finished sweatshirt and the flowers but I still haven't received the pictures from New Beginnings-I'm at the mercy of another. So I will post the pictures that I have and tell the Pearl story. the theme of YW New Beginnings this year was Becoming Pearls. The leaders spoke to the girls about the pearls that they are and that the Personal Progress program helps them become more beautiful. It was also explained to them how an oyster makes a pearl. Contrary to popular belief, a pearl doesn't necessarily start as a grain of sand getting stuck in an oyster but more of an "irritant" such as a particle of food. The oyster than produces Mother of Pearl to cover the irritant with a smooth surface. Layer and layer of Mother of Pearl is produced to cover the irritant. The birth a pearl occurrs when the oyster is opened and the pearl is taken out of the oyster. So this process was explained to the girls and then each of them was given an oyster to open. They wre told that each oyster should have a pearl in it, Yes they were real oysters and yes when they opened them after using knives to pry them open, there were pearls inside. All different kinds and colors and sizes of pearls. The colors ranged from WHITE (very white to cream to LIGHT pink to darker pink). Sizes were all round but bigger and smaller pearls. It was so cool to see the birth of these pearls and the parents were invovled-which makes sense because we were all at the births of our "pearls". Each girl was reminded of her incredible worth as a Daughter of God and then they gave the girls necklace that could house their pearls. Sooo COOL!! I hope that I get the pictures soon because there were some great pictures of the girls.

Next-Summer got her braces off on Tuesday (there are more braces to come) and is now wearing a retainer. She has beaver teeth now-Wyatt!!

I should be blogging about somethin'...

but really nothin' is goin' on. We went to the Phillips' house last night for dinner and card playing. We had a great time. The Phillips are Eric cousin-Amy Freeman. Our church is getting changed to start at 8:30 in Feb. We had church at 1 yesterday because it's alot easier to have one ward in the building at a time. Needless to say, I had some tired Sunbeams and some shocked Stake leaders because one of my beamers was REALLY SAD. But they do so much better in class. Anyway, that's all that's goin' on.

Gettin my craftin' groovy on

Here is what I've been doing lately, besides, pinewood derby, coaching basketball, watching basketball, chauffering a teenager to/from mutual, bus stops, and all the teenager activities that a teenager feels they need to participate in. Oh yeh and an unsurmontable amount of hair. Summer wanted her hair braided so it would be kinky but I didn't have time the night before so I had to crimp it the next AM after I finished up Lexi's hair. (Lexi's hair takes about 1-1 1/2 to curl all the way-therefore we don't do it often and she is getting so she can do it by herself-YEHH!!) But she has done it twice this week and sooo Lex, Sum and I fired up 3, yes count them 3, curling irons to get her hair done in a little over 1/2 hour so she could go to a mutual dance! Most all of the other colored flowers went in hair today at school and if you're wondering about the odd looking refurbished sweatshirt, it went on someone's back to school also. I will post better pictures of everything when they get home!! Now I'm going to go into the kitchen and attempt to make orange muffins for two basketball teams. Do you think I can do it without a complete disaster in the cooking department??

When being 2 is just as good as being 1

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BREK!!

Can you believe this was my baby 2 years ago. My how time flies!! Really can it have been 2 years since you were born, Brek. I'm so glad that I'm not living my life 2 years ago because I sure wasn't feeling very good then.
But ON TO THE BABY (yes we still call him THE BABY)Blowing out candles that he's really not interested in. No he didn't blow them out at all, our cousin, Jeff did. Which was fine.Rainbow cake that I decided to make. After the last episode with the cupcakes, you think I would learn. WHYWHYWHY?? Am I taking a very unprofessional cake to my MIL's house when she decorates cakes. Again, what am I thinking? I can't decorate cakes or food of any kind, why do I think that I can?? As you can see a VERY feeble attempt at and complete failure of decorating. But the kids liked it.
You are all boy. In love with tractors, cars, Nemo, tractors, no clothes, bathes, tractors, screaming, running, did I mention tractors??We sure love you and are so glad that you came to our little family! Here we are on the way home. Exhausted! And oh so incredibly safe!!

A blog about nothing

Yep, you read it. It is really about nothing. Not much going on here. Kids are back into their routines. Eric is doing whatever it is he does-alot of paperwork at present. He has to get his sprinkler packages together? And me, nothing other than Bobcat Den Meetings, VTings, teaching Sunbeams, Brek personal go-to guy, playmate, and diaper changer, den mom for the bear pack, occassionally showing up to help Sum's BB team coach and all around great gal!! So as you can see, truly a post about nothing!
