Beware!-fleshy pictures ahead!!

The dr tried really hard to not have to open him up but in the end had to because the front muscle that goes across the shoulder was tearing away from the bone. The reason why the front muscle was tearing away from the bone was because the tendon that attaches to the bicep (has a nice little groove that it sits in)no longer sits in the groove and therefore, was pushing the front tendon up. All the other "procedures" which included repairing another tendon in the back, removing a bone spur from inside the ball and socket, and building up the cuff were all done at the beginning of the surgery and othroscopically. I will try to explain everything to you with the pictures that we have of the inside of the shoulder. All the "yellow" coloration is iodine. There is tape on top of all the stitches so you can't really see the damage. They did cut right on the old scar -from surgery in the late 80's. For some reason this picture will not turn.
If you have a weak stomach don't look at the following pictures. This is the drill they used to remove the bone spur. These are pictures of the inside of ball and socket. Building up the cuff was difficult because from the 80's surgery they had left some of it in and it had actually healed to the back side of the socket. They pried, chiseled the healed cuff and raised it back up into place. This took about 1 1/2 hr (longest part of the surgery) and was done all orthroscopically. If you have a healthy shoulder, it shouldn't be all shaggy looking like his are. Basically all of these problems are from dislocating his shoulder over and over and wearing away the bone and stretching the tendons. The metal you see in this picture is another instrument. The blue you see is sutures building and securing all the cuff work. the bottom left picture is the cuff not repaired yet.

The 2nd row, 2nd down picture is of the inside of the socket where it is a little "rough" from arthirist. The dr was very pleased and thought that his should would be covered with it but there was only a small amount. The metal you see is again instruments they used in surgery. They put in 4 bio degratable screws. So someday they will no longer be there. He has alot of work that has to be done

Eric's surgery

We are on the way to the dr this morning so I can get some of my questions answered about the pictures they gave us of the inside of Eric's shoulder. He was scheduled for surgery at noon on Wednesday. He was done with surgery around 4:30 that afternoon. They put in a nerve block which basically meant they saturated the nerves in the shoulder and arm with meds to deaden. He was feeling pretty good after surgery and at home until about noon yesterday when the block finally wore off. He wasn't real happy then. It took awhile to get the pain under control. He can't lay flat in his back in bed because his arm will relax too much and flop back which will pull on one of the tendons that had work done so he has to sleep in the reclining chair that doesn't recline enough so he kind of has semi-sleeps. However, I woke him up at 1:30 to medicate and then at 5:30 to medicate. He doesn't want meds because he's actually feeling good (no pain) but I keep telling him, "You need to keep the meds in your system or you will be feeling yucky." He got a semi-shower last night which I'm sure helped him sleep better. He's pretty drugged and just kind of sleeps all day. However, when the phone rings, he wakes right up! Funny!! So that's about all I know. I will ask questions like how many screws? etc. and fill you in on the details. His desk is a laundry basket turned upside down. He watched -kinda watched- Avatar. He wasn't impressed. He's had to fight over the TV with Brek so he has watched alot of Geo Trax-I'm sick of it!! I want Lightening McQueen or Toy Story or something different.

Like Mama, like son!!

I colored my hair-cuz Eric has caused lots of grays the past 24 hours and the baby wanted to have gloves. I have a big box of irrigating gloves that I use to color my hair so he got to have a pair. Then he saw me put on my "hat" a.k.a. Walmart sack for a coloring cap and he wanted one on too. It's kind of funny don't you think!!

Home from surgery

He's relaxing with no pain in his shoulder. However, he has a nerve block??? that is making it so he feels fine. He's hung over from being under for 4 1/2 hours but he wants to eat a STEAK!! No, not happening!! We'll see what the night brings.

Electronically challenged

Yes, me. We have had some problems with our electronics lately. My friend called me and told me that the Wii can show movies that are downloaded from Netflix!! Cool!! But that's not the problem. Lexi's Itouch got washed all the way through the whole washing cycle!! It was a sad day. We have mourned the loss of a good and very EXPENSIVE friend. I decided to call Apple. They had a few suggestions. We didn't turn it on for like a week after it happened hoping that it would get good and dry but now the screen doesn't work. Right now I'm downloading updates for it so we will see if that fixes the problem. Then yesterday the power flicked and the Wii stopped working. So I called Nintendo. The Wii actually has a surge protector on it. I unplugged it from the outlet it was plugged into and immediately plugged it into another oputlet. It didn't work. Called Nintendo. Plugged it in again and IT WORKED!! It needs 2 minutes to reset!! YEH!! No new Wii hopefully no new Ipod either!!

What do you do

when you get that dreaded phone call from the school-no not the throw-up phone call or you need to pay your lunch money bill phone call. The your kid has been really naughty phone call. This is the second one I've received this year but for 2 different kids. And the way the kid left this morning, I'm really surprised that he had a problem today at school. There have been other days when he's left and I thought, ok, today's the day. He's gonna send his teacher over the edge and "the phone call" is going to be made. But today, what did he have for breakfast?? What set him off? Anyway, now it's punishment time problem is, he's already being grounded from Wii and puter cuz he hasn't brought his math work home which on Monday, he just plain forgot but on Tuesday he had a better excuse. Oh yeh, and I have cubs after school so how do you disipline when you aren't home oh and Lexi and I get to go to a Stake YW thing tonight too. So how do you follow through with anything. Eric said make him pull weeds. Ok, so I need to stand out there and watch him pull weeds to make sure he doesn't run off on a boyhood adventure? Tell me what to do!! I need your help!!

Just let me clarify...

that my absolutely to-die-for, can't-live-without, really-don't-like-leaving-the-house-unless-I'm-wearing-them jeans, are actually AERO brand, not AE. Same situation though about them fitting 2 inch thick girls and all that stuff but that they are from aeropostle NOT AE. Opps, I know so much about them don't I??!!

Things I L.O.V.E.

I L.O.V.E. lots of things like my husband and my kids and my van, my lawnmower, scrapbooking, crafting and couponing but I thought I would share some of the other little fancies that I love.
Last Christmas Eric bought me (well, I actually bought these myself-with Eric's paycheck) so yeh, Eric bought me these great cubic zirconia earrings and necklace. They were on sale at Amazon for a great price buy 1 get 1 and I just wanted to see what they were like. I thought they might be a little too girly for me but oh, how I love them now. I like feeling a little girly and they are so dainty and cute and I just love to wear them.Believe it or not I L.O.V.E. my AE jeans. As I've been the process of thinning down, I've gotten into a whole new world of clothes and so I purchased (again online) these American Eagle jeans. I know AE clothes are like for girls that are 2 inches thick with beautiful blonde locks and bronzed skin but I risked my looks, set aside my pre-judgement on what demographics AE is trying to sell to and bought these jeans. Did I mention, I L.O.V.E. them, they are so comfy. I can curl up with them on or go teach Cubs in them. I can go cheer on the basketball team and then run out and play volleyball with my girls. I just love how comfy and like home they feel.

And I L.O.V.E. Britney Spear's perfume called "Believe". I know, how can I give Eric's hard earned moolah to the winner of the weirdo award 2009, 2008, 2007 and so on (she's had a pretty tough half a decade at least) but I really like the smell of it. Again, bought it on a whim for Lexi for Christmas and she doesn't like the smell, a little too musky and "grow-up" in her words for her. So I get to wear it!! If I leave the house without it on, I feel kinda naked or at least smell-less. My SIL's and sistas liked it alot too. And if you're wondering Summer doesn't get to wear parfummmme until she's 12 or I'm sure the bottle would be empty by now.

What are some of the dainties, pretties, lovelies that you L.O.V.E.-you know other than the true blues: family, scriptures, church and yummies like that?

Calling sistas!!

Back me up on this sistas of mine. I had to give a talk today and I mentioned that we dug miles of ditches during Spring Breaks (do you remember that-Price's ditches) My husband kinda doubted my memories of "miles" of ditches. It was miles of ditches right??!! We weren't always shoveling the whole time, a ditch that was 3/4 full of dirt. I mean sometimes there was just a little trail of dirt for several 100's of feet but we did dig miles of ditches, right?? He thought I was off by several 1000's of feet? What do you remember??

Naptime...

Talk is over, Sunbeams are taught, choir is released, dinner is on and off (well still actually on)the table, brownies in the oven, house well, still standing. Time for a nap!!

Duct tape can fix anything...

even the microphone in the chapel!! The pulpit mike, I'm talking about!! Well, it wasn't exactly duct tape, eletrical tape and they just taped another mike to the microphone so that it would work. Of course, the 2 mikes taped together were too heavy for the skinny little microphone stand and so the mike kept falling down so they propped the mike up with a hymn book. Oh, did I mention, the Bishop was out of town and the Stake Pres. was residing!! Many of the ideas were his including the hymn book under the mike and asking everyone to move up. It was a great way to start the morning!! Very funny. Some of the things said were "I guess it is open mike today." And nobody would sit by Luke Sullivan who had a whole big middle bench to himself!! It was great fun!! I'm sure first ward was interested to see what we did to the sound system. Wish I could have taken a picture of it but it was in the chapel and so probably not appropriate. However, after what happened today maybe it would have fit right in!!

CREDIT

Credit for the pictures of the Adrian Antelopes goes to Angie Sillinos who goes to alot of Adrian events. She has put alot of pictures on Facebook, become a fan of Adrian Antelopes and you can see them all. I don't know anything about the cheers. I've only been to one football and we weren't by the cheerleaders-maybe the cheerleaders weren't there?? So I don't know if they still do DOWN and that's the way you get down!

My niece...

The basketball player. Great action shot!! Oh man, don't mean to fall on you, So sorry!!Just let me brace myself on your head!! These kids are living my dream!! The little school life where you get to do everything. Where everyone's popular and no one's popular. Love the green uniforms. Glad they've gone to a darker green and accenting with black. Miss you Adrian High!!

My nephew...

the Pitcher?? I didn't know he could do that!! Do you run track too??

Easter egging

Here are the kids collecting Easter Eggs. It was a fun, cold day-at least we didn't get snow though!!. As you can see in the background flowers are blooming and mom and dad's garden is growing under a hot house of plastic. Here's a picture of Brek "cheesin' it". Lexi didn't participate because of foot issues. She's still on crutches but went off to school today. Hopefully, someone will take care of her.

WARNING!! Gross looking pictures follow

If you are of the faint of heart don't look at the following pictures.
The Story:

Lexi has had a growth-most likely a wart-on her foot for about a year. We tried home remedies, over the counter meds, 2 visits to the pediatrician, and then finally to a general surgeon who cut it off. ALOT of it off, a big gaping hole and seven stitches later, 4 days of laying on the couch-however, she's still there?? borrowed crunches, a note to not participate in PE, she's uncovered the ouchie. Here are pictures of it. And of course, Brek needed to be in a picture too.

Three tounraments...three medals

Bode did very well this season. Here he is posing his medals. Of course, Brek wanted to get in on the action too.

Easter Eggs

Here are the kids that participated in egg dying this year. I asked Lexi if she was going to do it. She said, "No, why would I?" Well, maybe because last year you through a fit when someone else found your special colored egg. It's nice when kids start growing up. We only had one major spill but the floor handled it well. The orange die came right out. Yeh, for new floors!!
