Well, it finally happened and perfect timing for the Republican party as John McCain announced his running mate, Sarah Paline, a conversative mother (Oximoron, if you asked me, how can you be a conservative mother and a governor at the same time-must be conservative by liberals standards) from Alaska who is the governor there. She brings a strong anti-abortion stance to the ticket and opposes gay marriage — constitutionally banned in Alaska before her time — but exercised a veto that essentially granted benefits to gay state employees and their partners.
Palin lives in Wasilla, a town of 6,500 about 30 miles north of Anchorage, with her husband, Todd, a blue-collar North Slope oil worker who competes in the Iron Dog, a 1,900-mile snowmobile race. He is part Yup'ik Eskimo. The Palins have five children: Track, 19; Bristol 17; Willow 14; Piper, 7, and Trig, who was born in April. Track enlisted in the Army in 2007 on the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and has been assigned to Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks. Palin was born Feb. 11, 1964, in Idaho, but her parents moved to Alaska shortly after her birth to teach. She received a bachelor of science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987. I'm glad that she comes from roots like she does. And perfect planning on the tail of the Democractic Convention. Really took the wind out of their sails.

Benton Franklin Fair
We got to go to the fair on Friday. It was alot of fun. I wish the kids would have liked to see the animals and exhibits more than ride the rides. I like looking at the crafts!! Ohhh, shocker!! Summer invited her friend Haylee to go with us. The pictures of the cows (they are Easterday cows).

Chapter 2-"the check"
Ok, so we made it to the part in the story that we found the check the first time in the Clifford book. So I brought the check home without depositing it and set it on the table for the weekend. Nothing happened to it then but on Mondee I went to town to deposit it. Sum had an orthrodonist check-up first then we went to a junky second hand store and then to Richland Walmart, where I realized that I didn't have the check anymore. I had it poked into my front pocket of my diaper bag. Of course, while we were in walmart Bode was throwing a fit so I made him get in the cart which made him throw a bigger fit so we left the store with 3 three things in our cart for punishment. I was doing so good about following through with punishment so he knew he couldn't act like that in the store. But then when we got to the car and I couldn't find the check, well we had to go back into Walmart to retace steps (on the way to the car Bode is screaming, I want to go back inside, so he ended up getting exactly what he wanted!! GRRR!!). Well, of course, Walmart didn't have it. So back to the junky store (where, isn't this bad, I felt like if anyone there had picked it up they wouldn't be honest anyway and would have taken it) of course, it wasn't there. So finally back to the Orthro. We looked all around where we had sat, wasn't there. So I asked the receptionist and she said, "I think I have it. I just put a stamp on it to mail it to you. The UPS man brought it in from the parking lot." I was so relieved (I'm sure the Lord was about ready to stop answering my prayer in the affirmitive over this one check). Anyway, I called the main office of the UPS to ask what the driver's name and where he worked. They took down my name and number and then the Kennewick UPS called me back and asked me what happened and I just told them I was so grateful that he was honest and kind enough to do that for me. That night in family prayer, Summer thanked Heavenly Father for helping us find the check. It is now safely spent-no I mean deposited-in the bank, uhhhh!! I do say, one more reason to LOVE it when you see the UPS (we pronounce it, up with an s added, ups) man. Thank you brown!!

The check that would not be deposited!!
Ok, we have had the most interesting time trying to get Eric's paycheck deposited. On Friday I went to the office to pick-up his check because I was in town and could deposit it. Well, when I got there, they couldn't find it. (I don't blame them because they only had about 500 checks to be mailed that day or delivered) and they had piles of checks. Well, Eric's check wasn't in the pile to stay at the office. It wasn't in the pile that left to go to Basin City. It wasn't anywhere. 20 minutes later, they still hadn't found the check and then the truck manager called and said that he had the check and that he was still in town, he would bring it back to the office. So we found the check. Lexi carried it to the van and then she said she handed it to me. I put Brek in his carseat and drove to the bank to MAKE the DEPOSIT and lo and behold, we couldn't find the check, ANYWHERE!! What!!?? We looked and looked and couldn't find it. So we started retacing our steps. I had the windows of the van open, so it could have easily blown out. After, retacing back to the office, Lexi found it in the seat pocket between pages of a Clifford book. She stuck it in there. Of course, there were prayers said in there of pleading and of thanks. However, there's more to the story. I will post later about chapter 2.

BoRIng with two !!
We aren't doing too much around here. Just enjoying the last few days of summer. Lexi has been babysitting the last couple of days for the neighbor. She likes the $. We went over to the Jr. High to get her all set up, basically pay her dues for sports and ASB etc. She saw where all her classrooms were and the lockerroom. We have a VB Schedule so if you're ever in the area she plays Tues and Thurs. I have no idea how she will compare to the other girls, good, the same, bad. She's nervous about everything. I think the bus ride will only be 1/2 hour. She must be one of the last one's on the bus. I hoping lots of times she can ride with someone to school and then we will return the favor when we are old enough to drive. Bode is getting excited for school to start too. I hope that he can settle down a little bit and sit still and not urinate on the cement wall that about every farm boy that went through BC Elem has done. We will see how he does. Summer's teeth are really MoVIng. That's kind of what her mouth looks like all crooked. She's embarrassed to smile but is excited to get a new smile too. She gets braces in 6-8 weeks. That ought to be FUN!! with a capital F. We still have loved the O's. Love Mikey Phelps (at least Lexi does). And all the other fun stuff. Glad that Shawn Johnson final got her bling!! Yeh for her!! Anyway, just boring stuff around here.

Doesn't anyone sleep around HERE?!!!
Ok, my family obviously doesn't understand what it means to sleep and get a good sleep. To start the night off, we went to the temple and came home to our AC not working (there will be more about that later) so our house was about 83 degrees, which is bearable. But then we starting getting people ready for bed. Sum had a high fever and so she needed a cool bath and meds (which she can't take a pill-interesting), Brek had finally fallen asleep at Gma's so when he got home and woke up, well, he was awake. Finally everyone was in bed and sleeping except Lex has been staying up and watching the O's and then she doesn't turn off the TV so I have to do that in the Mid of the night (that happened 2 nights ago, last night I made her turn it off). So finally have cooled down enough to fall asleep and Bode gets in bed with me. Eric puts him back in bed. Then about 3 Bode's back in bed with me again. Eric moves him again but this time to say, "Oh man, he's wet." I start feeling myself (thinking that I was just sweaty, yeh, I wish sweat!!) No, he wet all over me and the pillow that he was sleeping on. So since I'm up, I go check on Sicky Sum, her fever has broke but while I'm checking on her she wakes up and of course, wants to have a whole conversation about something. I don't know what it was I just left her still talking in her room. I checked on Brek (who should be the one up) and he's doing great. Ok, I've changed my clothes and I'm back in bed. And about 4 Eric starts rolling around in pain because he got shocked by 480 VOLTS yesterday while working on a circle and he popped his shoulder out. (He doesn't know if it popped out because of him throwing his arms back to get them out of the electricity or from the actual shock.) He finally gets settled again and then guess who wakes up, the baby!! Why don't people in my house like to sleep? I love to sleep. I need to sleep. I can't function without slepp. Anyway, I think I'm going to go take a nap now!!

In Honor of...
Jhett Bennett Nielson for being inducted into the boyhood of Nielson's, Brek is displaying your daddy's hat. We are so happy and excited for Brian and Candace. After many years of waiting for Jhett, he has finally arrived. And what a great masculine name. I know that Mijken and us also considered Jhett for a name and Mijken had a girl or her baby would have been named Jhett. So exciting!!

Bode is funny!
Bode fell asleep yesterday during Sacrament Meeting!! Very weird, usually when he takes a nap that means he's sick! But he seems to be fine right now anyway. So when we talked to him about it that night he said, "I woke up and church was over!!" In a tone like, "I should fall asleep every Sunday during church because it made church go so much faster!! I mean, I closed my eyes and then opened them and I got to go to Primary." It was too funny. Dad was here last night so he got a good laugh out of it too.
